Attorney Rivard has practiced in the Waterbury area since 1990. In the spring of 2006 she opened her own law practice to concentrate in the areas of personal injury litigation, matrimonial and family law litigation, estate planning, decedents’ estates, residential real estate closings, and motor vehicle infractions to include DWI. She has also expanded her practice to include facilitative mediation after receiving a certificate from Quinnipiac University School of Law as a trained mediator in October 2006. Attorney Rivard also sees clients in her Simsbury, Connecticut office.
Attorney Rivard’s civil litigation practice includes settlement negotiations with both insurance adjusters and opposing counsel in motor vehicle accidents and slip and falls; court appearances for pretrials; civil short calendar arguments; and court and jury trials.
Attorney Rivard’s family law practice includes negotiation and litigation in the areas of child custody, child support, visitation, alimony and divorce. She has served as a court-appointed Guardian Ad Litem and as a court-appointed Attorney For the Minor Child. She has also served as a Family Special Master in the Waterbury Judicial District, as well as an Arbitrator for Court for selected arbitration civil cases in the Waterbury Judicial District.
Attorney Rivard’s probate law practice includes service as a court-appointed attorney for wards needing representation.
Attorney Rivard is a member of the Waterbury Bar Association and the Connecticut Bar Association. In addition to her license to practice in the State of Connecticut, she is admitted to practice in the United States District Court for the District of Connecticut and she is admitted to practice before the Supreme Court of the United States of America.
